Apalachicola & artist Kenneth Alan Hogle

My father came to visit me in Apalachicola years ago, he wandered around photographing abandoned vessels, fisherman, birds, you name it. He returned home and painted two large scale boats that were sitting in a grassy area off the road, when he passed away, I asked for three pictures, two of them being the boats from our time together in Apalachicola.

A few months ago celebrating my anniversary with my husband David, we learned the boat was brought into town and was now a centerpiece of sorts. It moved me in so many ways, the picture hangs in my living room today.

A blast from the past. A little homage to my past fellow retailers in Tallahassee.

Circa 1969 these pictures are mostly from the Grand Opening of the North Wood Mall on North Monroe Street. I love looking at our city's historical pics. Fascinated with people's dress, the landscape, everything about it. I remember department stores with my Mother in Connecticut that looked just like this, can even remember the smell.
